Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting a well-established and highly regarded business in Middlesbrough in the appointment of a Credit Controller.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, commercially focused organisation, where you will play a key role in maintaining strong cash flow, managing customer accounts, supporting supplier relationships, and contributing to the wider finance function.
The Role As Credit Controller, you will be responsible for the effective management of the sales ledger, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts while maintaining positive and professional relationships with customers and suppliers.
Working closely with Finance, Commercial, and Operational teams, you will support the business in minimising risk, improving cash flow performance, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day credit control processes.
Key Responsibilities - Manage and maintain the sales ledger, ensuring accuracy and integrity at all times
- Proactively chase outstanding debt via telephone and email to meet collection targets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to resolve queries efficiently
- Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts
- Investigate and resolve invoice disputes in a timely manner
- Monitor credit limits and assess risk on new and existing customers
- Produce aged debt reports and provide regular updates to senior management
- Support month-end processes and reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures
What We’re Looking For - Previous experience in a Credit Controller or similar finance role
- a Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) Level 2 Certificate or equivalent professional qualification
- Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment would be advantageous
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with a confident, professional approach
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of finance systems and Microsoft Excel
- Proactive and solutions-focused mindset
