Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting a well-established client in the appointment of a Loader to join their site operations in North Yorkshire.

This is a hands-on role within a busy steel fabrication environment, playing a key part in the safe movement, handling and distribution of structural steel products both across site and for onward transportation.
 
The Role
As a Loader, you will be responsible for the safe receipt, movement and loading of structural steel using overhead cranes and associated lifting equipment. You will ensure materials are positioned correctly across the site and loaded accurately onto trailers in preparation for dispatch, always maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely receive incoming structural steel materials and distribute them to designated locations across site
  • Load finished steelwork onto trailers for transportation using overhead cranes
  • Operate overhead cranes in line with training, site procedures and statutory requirements
  • Ensure all lifting and loading activities comply with Health & Safety and environmental regulations
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards within loading and storage areas
  • Work closely with the Works Manager and wider operations team to support efficient workflow
  • Carry out any additional duties appropriate to the role as required
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all site Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure safe movement of steel products onto and off trailers
  • Operate lifting equipment responsibly and report any defects or safety concerns immediately
Experience & Skills
Essential:
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within a structural steel or similar heavy industrial environment
  • Experience operating overhead cranes
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail and a responsible approach to work
Personal Attributes:
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Willing to undertake on-the-job training to further develop skills and knowledge
