Direct Tax Advisor

Our client, a major industrial and manufacturing group, is seeking a Direct Tax Advisor to join their established in-house tax team at their Scunthorpe site.
In this full-time permanent role, you will play a key part in delivering UK and Irish corporation tax compliance, supporting wider advisory activities, and maintaining tax risk management processes across the Group.

Key responsibilities as Direct Tax Advisor:

• Preparing UK and Irish corporation tax returns for review by the Head of Tax
• Analysing tax-sensitive data from SAP systems and reviewing fixed asset projects for capital allowance claims
• Preparing quarterly environmental returns in collaboration with the environmental and energy teams
• Drafting tax notes for IFRS statutory accounts
• Acting as point of contact for group auditors on corporation tax matters
• Performing monthly reconciliations of corporation tax accounts and preparing associated journals
• Monitoring and reporting withholding tax transactions
• Assisting with transfer pricing documentation for the British Steel Group
• Supporting tax risk management activities across corporation tax, employment tax, and customs duties
• Producing monthly cashflow forecasts and raising related purchase orders
• Providing ad hoc support to the wider tax and finance teams

Direct Tax Advisor requirements:

• ATT qualified (or equivalent) or strong experience in a corporate tax environment
• Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax; Irish tax experience desirable
• Understanding of capital allowances and IFRS reporting standards
• Proficiency with SAP and managing large datasets
• Experience preparing tax disclosures and liaising with auditors
• High attention to detail, analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset
