Electrical Control & Instrumentation Technician

We are seeking an Electrical Control & Instrumentation Technician to work on site in Beckton at a combined heat and intelligent power plant. Reporting to the Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring contractual quality, site safety and environmental targets are met. 

This full-time permanent position offers developmental opportunities, a competitive salary and company benefits package, working daytime Monday to Friday. 

Responsibilities:

  • Working within a multi-disciplinary site team
  • Providing EC&I technical support for daily site activities
  • Supervising contractors ensuring work meets specified guidelines and safety standards
  • Overseeing assigned maintenance contracts in line with business needs and standards
  • Ordering site equipment
  • Reviewing method statements, risk assessments and resolving documenting issues
  • Performing planned and emergent maintenance and project equipment work providing completion feedback
  • Working with teams safely to troubleshoot and prevent issues whilst completing assigned tasks
  • Understanding company and legislative standards and ensuring compliance including DSEAR, EAWR and HASAWA
  • Maintaining and promoting safety standards

Minimum requirements:

  • Time served electrical, control or instrumentation apprenticeship / NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in electrical, control or instrumentation discipline
  • Experience of working in a 24/7 industrial process

Competent to fault find, improve and complete tasks in:

  • Instrumentation: Industry standard methods of measuring pressure, flow and temperature
  • 4-20mA systems, HART, 0-10v, analog and digital systems, and calibration, testing and fault finding of process instrumentation
  • Control: PLC / DCS systems, 110v ac, 24v dc, relays, contactors, feedback signals, interlocks, digital inputs and outputs
  • Control loops, PID controllers, proximity and limit switches, A2D converters, RIO systems, bus systems and ethernet networks
  • Electrical: 3 phase motors, inverter drives, motor starting and protection methods, LV distribution, overcurrent and fault protection, earthing and bonding systems, control systems: MCC, DOL, Star Delta, VSD, soft starter
